RAMALLAH, August 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Wednesday briefed a delegation from the German Bundestag, headed by Deputy Chair of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) parliamentary group, Siemtje Möller, on the latest political and field developments in Palestine, amid the political, economic, and social challenges resulting from the ongoing war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, Israeli measures in the West Bank, and escalating attacks and acts of terrorism by colonists.
Mustafa stressed the need to intensify international efforts and pressure to ensure the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, launch the recovery and reconstruction process, halt all Israeli measures in the West Bank, curb and end colonists’ attacks, violence, and acts of terrorism, and release Palestinian clearance revenues withheld for more than 16 months.
Prime Minister Mustafa called for increased international pressure to enforce the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal and UN Security Council Resolution 2803. He emphasized the urgency of launching the recovery and reconstruction process, halting Israeli measures in the West Bank, and ending and attacks and terrorism by settlers. Additionally, Mustafa demanded the immediate release of Palestinian clearance revenues, which have been withheld for more than 16 months
He warned of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, noting that Israeli restrictions have severely disrupted relief and recovery efforts and resulted in critical shortages of food, fuel, medical supplies, and equipment.
He renewed his call on the international community to prevent the suffering of the Palestinian people from being exploited as leverage in the Israeli elections.
Mustafa also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to provide essential services to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip despite severely limited resources. He particularly underscored the work of government teams in the health and education sectors, including repairing water networks, removing rubble, and carrying out other vital interventions in close partnership with local and international institutions, foremost among them United Nations agencies.
The Prime Minister commended Germany’s steadfast support for the two-state solution and its explicit rejection of illegal measures targeting the Palestinian people.
He expressed appreciation for Germany’s ongoing humanitarian assistance, as well as its continuous funding for development and infrastructure projects across various sectors.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister called for enhanced political and diplomatic engagement from Germany to help secure justice for the Palestinian people and enforce relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
For their part, members of the delegation reaffirmed Germany’s steadfast support for achieving the two-state solution and its continued commitment to providing humanitarian and relief assistance to the Palestinian people.
They underscored that this support includes assistance provided through the United Nations Horizon Fund, which is dedicated to advancing early recovery and long-term reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.
