Vice President discusses preparations for national elections with CEC chairman

 

 

RAMALLAH, August 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Vice President of the State of Palestine Hussein al-Sheikh today discussed with Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) Rami Hamdallah the latest preparations, arrangements, and readiness required to conduct the national electoral process, ensuring that it is held within the legal and constitutional frameworks and in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and transparency.

Al-Sheikh underscored the pivotal role of the CEC in preparing for the national electoral process, stressing the need to complete all technical, logistical, and administrative requirements and provide an appropriate environment and conditions that would enable the commission to carry out its duties independently and efficiently, thereby strengthening citizens’ confidence in the electoral process and its outcomes.

During the meeting, Al-Sheikh was briefed on the commission’s readiness, plans, and programs for the elections, as well as proposed mechanisms to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process at its various stages in accordance with the highest professional standards and to guarantee citizens’ exercise of their electoral rights as an authentic national and democratic entitlement.

Hamdallah outlined the commission's final procedures and confirmed its technical and organizational readiness to perform its duties. He affirmed that the commission is prepared to assume its national responsibilities in accordance with the law, ensuring a sound, transparent, and integral electoral process.
