TULKARM, August 13, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists on Thursday began placing mobile homes on land belonging to the village of An-Nazla al-Sharqiya, north of Tulkarm, in preparation for establishing a new colonial outpost in the area.

Wail Kattaneh, head of the An-Nazla al-Sharqiya village council, told WAFA that the targeted area is mountainous and lies northeast of the village, connecting the Israeli colony of Hermesh with a pastoral outpost established on the village’s land.

Kattaneh said colonists have been bulldozing land, opening roads and installing electricity lines in the area for about a month. They began bringing in several mobile homes on Wednesday and continued placing more on Thursday, bringing the number to about 20 so far.

He said the existing pastoral outpost is only about 150 meters from the village, posing a direct threat to residents and their land and raising concerns that the new outpost could expand and lead to the seizure of additional Palestinian-owned land.

According to Kattaneh, farmers and locals face daily attacks by colonists, including being forced to leave their land, restrictions on their movement, being prevented from accessing their property or grazing their livestock, and attacks on village council facilities, particularly a water tank and well.

He warned that establishing the new outpost could have serious consequences for the village's citizens and farmers, particularly as land leveling and infrastructure expansion continue in the area, threatening further land seizures, preventing owners from cultivating their property and undermining their livelihoods.
