CAIRO, July 8, 2026 (WAFA) -- Israeli occupation authorities on Wednesday barred a scheduled visit by Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy to the State of Palestine, which was aimed at supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
The official spokesperson for the Arab League Secretary-General stated that Fahmy had chosen the State of Palestine as his first foreign destination to underscore the centrality of the Palestinian cause, affirming that it remains at the forefront of Arab priorities.
The spokesperson added that the Palestinian people endure a strict siege within their towns and cities, surrounded by increasingly encroaching colonialism and colonist-only bypass roads.
He noted that Palestinians remain vulnerable to the brutality and terror of Israeli colonists, who operate under the protection and frequent encouragement of the occupation forces.
The spokesperson emphasized the urgent need to hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations against the Palestinian people.
He stressed that defending the two-state solution demands concrete and sustained actions from all peace-loving nations to expose the practices of the occupation and bolster the resilience of the Palestinian people, who face unprecedented repression and escalating, unchecked violence.
