HEBRON, October 29, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces and groups of colonists began land-clearing and construction work on Thursday to establish a new colony on Palestinian-owned land east of al-Majd village, west of Dura, southwest of Hebron, alongside paving a colonial road leading to the site.
WAFA correspondent reported that the work was being carried out with the participation of Israeli forces and colonists.
Yasser al-Masharqa, head of al-Majd village council, told WAFA that Israeli forces began gradually seizing land east of the village in October 2023, and have prevented citizens from accessing it ever since.
He said more than 2,000 dunums of agricultural land and grazing areas had been taken over. These lands provide the main source of income for many of the village's residents. He added that work began on Thursday on a new colony the colonists have named “Majd,” in an attempt to appropriate the village’s name as well.
Al-Masharqa said the occupation authorities and colonists had also begun paving a road more than three kilometers long, cut through village land, linking the new colony to the Negohot colony and the road leading to the 1948 territories.
He warned that the project threatens to deprive residents of access to thousands of additional dunums of agricultural land surrounding the route and extending along its length.
