Several Palestinians suffer tear gas inhalation as Israeli forces raid village northeast of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, June 27, 2026 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians suffered from tear gas inhalation on Saturday evening after Israeli forces raided the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah.

The head of Al-Mughayyir Village Council, Amin Abu Aliya, told WAFA that Israeli forces stormed the village and fired volleys of tear gas canisters at residents, causing several people to suffer from suffocation.

He added that Israeli forces detained a Palestinian at a military checkpoint they had set up at the village's western entrance and assaulted him, while also detaining a child during the raid. Both were later released.

Abu Aliya said Israeli forces subsequently closed the village's western entrance completely, preventing residents from entering or leaving. The western entrance is currently the village's only access point after Israeli forces closed its eastern entrance at the end of 2023.

Al-Mughayyir and surrounding villages have been subjected to repeated Israeli military raids, alongside ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists targeting Palestinian residents and their property.
