JEDDAH, January 7, 2026 (WAFA) — The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ raid on the campus of Birzeit University and the accompanying systematic assaults on students, academics, and staff, which resulted in multiple injuries.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the General Secretariat said the deliberate attack on the sanctity of an educational institution constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions. 

It added that the incident is part of an ongoing series of Israeli crimes and violations against the Palestinian education system aimed at depriving the Palestinian people of their right to education and the development of their human and scientific capacities.

The OIC renewed its call on UNESCO and relevant international organizations to assume their responsibilities by condemning the attack, taking practical steps to monitor and document such violations, and ensuring the protection of Palestinian educational institutions.
