RAMALLAH, December 25, 2025 (WAFA) – Representing Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh attended the Midnight Christmas  Mass marking Christmas for churches that follow the Western calendar.

The Mass was presided over by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who said in his homily, “Christmas places a great responsibility upon us. It comes after difficult years marked by war, hunger, and destruction, which have profoundly impacted the lives of many, especially children."

He also emphasized that the situation has become extremely challenging as a result of choices and decisions that often prioritize the interests of the few over the common good.

He added that the Holy Land, a meeting place of peoples and religions, remains a stage for tensions and conflicts that demand the attention of leaders, the international community, and religious and moral authorities.

The Mass was attended by the representative of Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya, the Custos of the Holy Land, Father Francesco Yalbo, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Chairman of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Ramzi Khoury, as well as several ministers, senior officials, security leaders, diplomats, consuls, religious figures, and worshippers.
