JERUSALEM, September 22, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces continue to keep the Sheikh Sa'd military checkpoint, located southeast of occupied Jerusalem, closed for the third consecutive day.

The Jerusalem Governorate reported that occupation forces are maintaining the closure of the military checkpoint—which isolates the village of Sheikh Sa'd from its surroundings—thereby preventing dozens of students from reaching their schools in the southeast of occupied Jerusalem.

Occupation forces are intensifying military measures by erecting checkpoints and installing iron gates across occupied Jerusalem as part of efforts to restrict the movement of Palestinian residents.

By the middle of this year, the occupation had established approximately 930 permanent checkpoints across the various governorates of the West Bank, including dozens of new gates installed at the entrances to Palestinian towns and villages. Jerusalem and its suburbs have been heavily targeted by these measures, with more than 88 gates installed.

These gates are concentrated particularly at the entrances to Jerusalem-area villages—such as Qalandia, Al-Ram, Hizma, Anata, Mikhmas, and Al-Eizariya—and in the vicinity of Al-Isawiya, Jabal Al-Mukabbir, Jaba', and Beit Iksa, in addition to the permanent checkpoints at the entrances to the Old City and the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
