BILBAO, November 16, 2025 (WAFA) – In a historic moment for Palestinian football, the national team played a friendly match against the Basque team at the iconic San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain, in front of 50,000 spectators.
This marked the first time the Palestinian team played on European soil, reflecting the growing international support for the Palestinian cause. The match, which was held amidst the ongoing Israeli atrocities against Palestinians, became a powerful display of solidarity.

Organizers reported that over 50,000 fans attended the friendly match, where they loudly cheered pro-Palestine chants, waved Palestinian flags, and displayed banners. The crowd also honored Suleiman Al-Obeid, the former captain of Palestine's national team, who was killed by Israel in Gaza while waiting for humanitarian aid, by displaying his images.
For 90 minutes, the fans stood in unity with the Palestinian cause, raising their voices in support of the right to live in peace, dignity, and freedom. Prior to the match, the Palestinian players posed with a banner that read "Stop the Genocide."
Despite the defeat, with the Basque team winning 3-0, the match served as a powerful symbol of resilience. The Palestinian athletes, who have endured brutal crimes, massacres, and the destruction of most of their sports facilities, proved once again that the Palestinian people deserve to live in dignity and peace.
