Colonists establish new colonial outpost east of Anata in occupied Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, November 9, 2025 (WAFA) – Colonists established a new outpost today near the Abu Ghalia and Al-Ara'ara Bedouin communities east of the town of Anata, east of occupied Jerusalem, according to a local official.

Hassan Mleihat, general supervisor of the Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, told WAFA that the construction work involves laying foundations for mobile homes and relocating construction equipment and tools, posing a direct threat to Bedouin community residents and restricting their access to their homes.

He affirmed that this step is part of a systematic policy aimed at imposing control over the land to expand the colonial presence in the area.

A report issued by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission in early October indicated that, since October 7, 2023, Israeli planning authorities reviewed a total of 182 structural plans to build 23,267 colonial units on an area of 14,000 dunums. Approval was granted for 6,300 units, while 17,000 new colonial units were submitted for review.

The plans focused on Jerusalem Governorate with 65 structural plans—25 outside the municipal boundaries and 65 within—followed by Salfit and Bethlehem governorates, each with 22 structural plans.

The report added that, under the protection of the Israeli army, colonists established 29 outposts: eight in Hebron, six in Ramallah, four in Bethlehem, and three in Nablus, and also paved seven roads to facilitate colonists’ movement and connect outposts to existing settlements.

It noted that Israel decided to legalize 11 outposts, converting them into colonial settlements or neighborhoods linked to existing settlements, and referred nine other outposts for legalization procedures.
