JERUSALEM, November 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The Israeli municipality of Jerusalem today forced a Palestinian citizen to demolish part of his home in the neighborhood of Silwan in occupied Jerusalem, according to local sources.
The municipality compelled Abdullah Qarain, a resident of the Wadi Hilweh district in Silwan, to tear down a room in his house under the pretext of lacking a building permit.
Silwan and other neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem have long been subject to Israeli demolition policies. Residents are frequently forced to carry out “self-demolitions” to avoid fines and demolition fees, while building permits for Palestinians are rarely approved.
These measures are part of a broader strategy to limit Palestinian presence and expand Israeli settlements in the area.
