Israeli forces continue assaulting Hebron's farmers as olive harvest season approaches

HEBRON, October 12, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detained a number of farmers on Sunday and prevented them from harvesting olives on their lands in the town of Tarqumiya, west of Hebron.

This coincided with the launch of the national olive harvest campaign in the governorate, in support of farmers' steadfastness in the face of attacks by the occupation and colonists.

Local sources said that the IOF detained the farmers and prevented them from reaching their lands near the bypass road and the Adora and Telem colonies. They seized their vehicles and threatened them with not returning to their lands, paving the way for their seizure for colonial expansion in the area.

Meanwhile, the 2025 olive harvest campaign was launched this morning from the Soba area, west of the town of Idhna in the Hebron governorate. The campaign was attended by Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin, Minister Mu'ayyad Shaaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, and in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Civil Defense volunteers, the Red Crescent, foreign solidarity activists, residents, and official and national institutions.

Shaaban emphasized that the campaign comes within the framework of supporting farmers and protecting them from attacks by the occupation forces and colonists during the olive harvest season, emphasizing that the Authority will continue its field presence in various targeted areas.

Dudin condemned the ongoing attacks by the occupation forces and settlers against farmers, which aim to seize citizens' lands and forcibly displace them. He pointed out that these volunteer activities reflect the spirit of steadfastness and solidarity among the people of the governorate and its official and civil institutions to support Palestinian farmers and strengthen their continued presence on their land.

The Tarqumiya and Suba areas are subjected to a series of repeated violations by the occupation forces and settlers, including the demolition of homes and agricultural facilities, and preventing farmers from accessing their lands, in an attempt to seize control of lands adjacent to the racist Annexation Wall and annex them to the benefit of the settlements built on citizens' lands.
