Occupation forces storm last ship of Global Sumud Flotilla, detain activists on board

RAMALLAH, October 3, 2025 (WAFA) – The International Committee for Breaking the Siege on Gaza announced that the Israeli occupation army today, Friday, stormed the last ship of the Global Sumud Flotilla and seized it while it was sailing in international waters on its way to the Gaza Strip.

A live broadcast from the ship Marinette showed the moment an Israeli naval boat intercepted it and soldiers boarded the vessel.

In a post on its Instagram page, the flotilla stated that Marinette, the last remaining ship of the Global Sumud Flotilla, was intercepted by the occupation forces at exactly 10:29 a.m. local time (GMT+3), about 42.5 nautical miles (around 68 km) from Gaza.

The flotilla explained that over the course of 38 hours, Israeli naval forces intercepted all 42 of its ships, which were carrying humanitarian aid and volunteers determined to break Israel’s illegal blockade on Gaza.

It confirmed that Marinette continued sailing toward Gaza despite Israel’s seizure of 41 other boats in the flotilla.

International organizations, including Amnesty International, repeatedly called for protection of the flotilla, while the United Nations affirmed that any assault on it is “unacceptable.”

According to participating activists, about 50 ships took part in the flotilla, sailing in groups separated by several nautical miles, with the distance between the leading ships and those at the rear reaching nearly 20 miles.

Israel, the occupying power, has repeatedly carried out acts of piracy against ships heading to Gaza, seizing them and deporting the activists on board.

This is the first time that nearly 50 ships have sailed together toward Gaza, carrying 532 civilian solidarity activists from over 45 countries.
