CAIRO, September 20, 2025 (WAFA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam affirmed today their joint rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land, during a press conference held at Cairo’s Al-Ittihadiya Presidential Palace.
The remarks came following an official meeting between the two leaders, held as part of President Shanmugaratnam’s visit to Egypt aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
According to Egyptian presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the talks addressed regional and international issues of mutual concern, with particular focus on the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip. President El-Sisi outlined Egypt’s ongoing efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and work toward the release of hostages and detainees.
Both presidents emphasized their firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians, with El-Sisi stating: “I reiterated Egypt’s unwavering rejection of any attempt to forcibly displace the Palestinian people or liquidate the Palestinian cause.”
He added, “We discussed the dangerous and exceptional circumstances facing the Middle East, especially the Palestinian issue, and Egypt’s efforts to stop the war in Gaza and ease the humanitarian crisis caused by the brutal Israeli actions and expanded military operations.”
President El-Sisi reaffirmed that peace and stability in the region cannot be achieved without ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also expressed appreciation for Singapore’s humanitarian aid delivered to Gaza via Egypt, while pointing to the ongoing challenges in getting sufficient relief to those in need due to Israeli restrictions.
President Shanmugaratnam praised Egypt’s vital role under President El-Sisi’s leadership in promoting regional stability and supporting peace efforts, particularly in relation to the Palestinian cause.
