WELLINGTON, September 13, 2025 (WAFA) – Tens of thousands of people took part in a mass pro-Palestine demonstration in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, on Saturday, marking the biggest rally of its kind since the Israeli war on Gaza began in October 2023.
The group Aotearoa for Palestine said that around 50,000 people joined the March for Humanity in central Auckland this morning, describing it as the largest demonstration in support of Palestinians in New Zealand since the outbreak of the war.
New Zealand's public broadcaster reported that many participants carried Palestinian flags and placards with slogans condemning the normalization of genocide.
In August, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon described the situation in Gaza, including the severe shortage of humanitarian aid, as “truly horrific,” adding that New Zealand is considering whether to recognize a Palestinian state.
