KUALA LUMPUR, August 31, 2025 (WAFA) – Malaysia has expressed deep concern over measures preventing the Palestinian delegation from participating in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia called for the reversal of such measures, emphasizing the importance of multilateral diplomacy and the need to ensure the effective and constructive participation of all UN members and observers, in accordance with the Host Country Agreement, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions.
The ministry stressed that international law, including the UN Charter, guarantees Palestinians' inalienable right to self-determination, reaffirmed by numerous UN resolutions, and noted the necessity of protecting this fundamental right alongside their ability to seek justice through international mechanisms.
Malaysia reiterated its steadfast support for the Palestinian people in their struggle for independence and statehood, urging the international community to uphold principles of justice, equality, and dignity to achieve peace, freedom, and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state.
