NABLUS, July 4, 2025 (WAFA) – Three Palestinians were injured early Friday morning after being physically assaulted by Israeli colonists during an attack on the town of Beita, south of Nablus. Eight others suffered from tear gas inhalation after Israeli forces stormed the area and fired gas canisters and live ammunition.
Palestinian security sources told WAFA that a group of Israeli colonists attacked the home of Samer Abu Zaytoun in the Qamas area on the outskirts of the town. The colonists attempted to set fire to the house and assaulted three residents who tried to fend them off.
Following the colonist attack, Israeli forces raided the town, firing live rounds and launching tear gas and stun grenades. The gas led to the suffocation of eight residents, who were treated at the scene.
Violence by Israeli colonists against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank has been a longstanding and escalating issue. These attacks often include physical assaults, vandalism, arson, destruction of agricultural land, and the targeting of homes and vehicles.
Human rights organizations, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), have documented a sharp rise in colonist violence in recent years, particularly in the aftermath of the Gaza war that began in October 2023. In many cases, Israeli forces have been reported to either accompany colonists during attacks or fail to intervene to protect Palestinian residents.
