AMMAN, July 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi stressed on Tuesday the need for immediate international action to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
According to Jordan’s Petra news agency, Safadi said the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza is a result of Israel's ongoing aggression and its continued obstruction of aid delivery, which necessitates urgent intervention by the international community to enforce assistance through relevant UN organizations, in line with international law and international humanitarian law.
During his meeting with the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, Safadi emphasized that Israel’s denial of the Palestinian people’s right to food and medicine constitutes a war crime and a blatant violation of international law, humanitarian law, and shared human values—an issue that must be addressed “immediately and effectively” by the global community.
Safadi reaffirmed the centrality of UNRWA’s “irreplaceable” role in Gaza and its five areas of operation, under its UN mandate, and reiterated Jordan’s continued commitment to supporting the agency.
He also underscored the need for collective efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza, reach a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, and support mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to achieve that goal.
