Yemen welcomes European, Canadian measures on colonial settlement products, reaffirms support for Palestinian people

SANA’A, September 9, 2026 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen welcomed the joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden, rejecting Israel’s colonial expansion policies and measures to prevent trade linked to illegal colonial settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, in accordance with international law.

The Ministry, in a statement, affirmed that this step constitutes important support for efforts aimed at deterring the colonial policies pursued by the Israeli occupation and its attempts to impose a fait accompli and alter the demographic and geographic character of the occupied Palestinian territory.

It called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and take firm and tangible measures to halt Israel’s colonial policies and violations against the Palestinian people.

The Republic of Yemen renewed its steadfast position in support of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
