Liaison Officers Conference on Arab Boycott of Israel approves ban on companies violating boycott rules

Cairo, May 25, 2025 (WAFA) – The 97th session of the Conference of Liaison Officers of Arab Boycott of Israel approved the blacklisting of several companies found to be in violation of the Arab boycott regulations. These companies were cited for investing in illegal colonial settlements and supporting the Israeli economy and military.

The conference also issued warnings to other companies, urging them to withdraw their investments and cease any cooperation with the Israeli colonial and settlement regime.

In its final communiqué issued Sunday, the conference, chaired by Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories Affairs at the Arab League, Saeed Abu Ali, and several representatives from member states at the Secretary-General of the Arab League, as well as a delegate from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC), stressed the importance of reinforcing the role of Arab boycott offices, and continuing coordination with the Central Boycott Office to ensure the enforcement of decisions and monitor any violations.

It emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in developing and integrating Islamic, Arab, and international boycott mechanisms.

The agenda included measures such as banning and listing non-compliant companies, removing companies that have corrected their violations, and reinforcing cooperation and information exchange among regional boycott offices in Arab countries.

The conference reaffirmed its call on all countries, institutions, companies, and individuals to cease any form of engagement with Israeli settlements established on occupied Palestinian territory. This includes banning the import of settlement products and prohibiting both direct and indirect investments, in accordance with the approved boycott regulations, as such activities constitute a clear violation of international law.

Delegates also expressed appreciation for the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and solidarity campaigns worldwide, commending their alignment with international law and their growing impact in confronting Israel’s settler-colonialism, occupation, and apartheid.

They praised governments, institutions, countries, and individuals worldwide that support the international boycott movement, and renewed their call for the global community to uphold justice by boycotting Israel and its colonial settlements.

Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, called for an immediate end to the export, supply, or transfer of weapons, ammunition, and military-use products to Israel.

He also called for the legal pursuit of those listed on the "Shame List" adopted by the Arab Summit, which names Israeli officials involved in committing or inciting genocide, aiming to hold them accountable in both national and international courts.

Al-Aklouk asserted that no state, company, or institution can now plead ignorance, stressing that the world faces a moral and legal responsibility, either to be part of the solution or complicit in the crime. He called for turning the boycott into a powerful and effective tool to halt the genocide committed by Israel and to pursue accountability for the perpetrators of aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing.

He emphasized that the boycott must serve as a tool to support the Palestinian people, lift the injustices inflicted upon them, and uphold the principles of humanity and international law.

Al-Aklouk also commended the Spanish Prime Minister’s call to exclude Israel from international cultural events, including the Eurovision Song Contest, emphasizing that permitting Israel’s participation amid ongoing acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing amounts to complicity and constitutes an indirect legitimization of the colonial occupation regime.
