RAMALLAH, August 11, 2026 (WAFA) — Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa received a phone call on Tuesday from UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, during which they discussed the latest political developments and the situation on the ground in Palestine.

Mustafa briefed Miliband on the daily attacks by Israeli forces and colonists against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, and the resulting escalation in tensions and direct threats to citizens' lives.

Mustafa stressed that Israeli settlements in all their forms violate international law and undermine prospects for peace and the two-state solution, emphasizing the need for international intervention and decisive measures against settlement expansion.

The two officials also discussed progress in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 concerning the Gaza Strip, stressing the urgent need to accelerate implementation of its second phase.

Mustafa also outlined the difficult financial and economic situation facing the Palestinian Authority as a result of Israeli measures that violate international law and signed agreements.

Miliband, meantime, expressed Britain's support for the State of Palestine in confronting challenges in Gaza and the West Bank, reaffirming the UK’s commitment to efforts to implement the two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state, which the United Kingdom recognized last year.

At the conclusion of the call, Mustafa expressed his appreciation to the British government for its supportive positions toward Palestine and the Palestinian people across political and economic spheres.
