RAMALLAH, August 12, 2026 (WAFA) — The Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast hot and dry conditions in the mountainous areas and very hot weather in the rest of the country today, Wednesday.

Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged, staying around 4°C above their annual average. Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate in speed and occasionally active, while sea conditions will be slight to moderate.

During the evening and night hours, the weather will be warm in most areas. Winds will be northwesterly, moderate to occasionally strong, and sea conditions will be moderate.

On Thursday, hot and dry conditions are expected in the mountainous areas, with very hot weather elsewhere. Temperatures are forecast to drop slightly but will remain around 3°C above their annual average. Winds will be westerly to northwesterly, light to moderate and occasionally active, with slight to moderate sea conditions.

On Friday, temperatures will drop slightly again, remaining around 2°C above their annual average. The weather will be hot in the mountainous areas and very hot in the rest of the country. Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate and occasionally active, while sea conditions will remain slight to moderate.

On Saturday, hot conditions are expected in the mountainous areas and very hot weather elsewhere, with little change in temperatures, which will remain around 2°C above their annual average. Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate and occasionally active, with slight to moderate sea conditions.

The PMD warned of the dangers of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during peak hours between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. It also warned against lighting fires in areas with dry vegetation and leaving children or elderly people inside closed vehicles.

It also urged citizens to drink plenty of water and other fluids.
