BUCHAREST, May 22, 2025 (WAFA) – The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Israeli ambassador in Bucharest on Thursday following the shooting incident by Israeli forces toward a delegation of Arab and international diplomats visiting Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.
In an official statement, the ministry confirmed that the group targeted in Wednesday’s incident included Romanian diplomatic representatives. Among those present was the Head of the Romanian Representative Office in Ramallah, alongside other diplomats, Palestinian officials, and journalists.
The ministry expressed "particular concern" over the incident and said it raised the issue in an urgent conversation with the Israeli ambassador. It requested clear explanations regarding the circumstances under which the shooting took place.
Romania also announced that it would continue coordinating with other European Union member states and international partners to clarify the details of the “regrettable incident” and to follow up on the outcome of the investigation reportedly launched by Israeli authorities.
