Al-Sheikh meets Qatari Prime Minister, discusses ceasefire efforts and regional coordination

DOHA, May 11, 2025 (WAFA) — Hussein Al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine and Vice President of the PLO, met today with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha.

During the meeting, Al-Sheikh conveyed the Palestinian leadership’s deep appreciation for Qatar’s ongoing efforts to end the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza in cooperation with Egypt and other regional and international partners.

Al-Sheikh briefed the Qatari official on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the urgent need for a ceasefire and the immediate delivery of humanitarian assistance.

He reiterated the official Palestinian position, which calls for the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and for the State of Palestine to assume full civil and security responsibilities, alongside the launch of a political process based on international legitimacy.

The two sides also reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors. Discussions included preparations for the upcoming Arab League summit in Baghdad and the anticipated visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to the region.

Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s unwavering and longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people, grounded in international law and the two-state solution — including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
