RAMALLAH, February, 4 2024 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) said that the Israeli occupation authorities continue to surge and escalate detention and raid operations across the occupied West Bank, particularly in the governorates of Jenin and its camp and Tubas.
According to PPS, the number of detentions in the West Bank since the ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into effect has reached 380, noting that this data includes those who were detained and kept in detention by the occupation, and those who were released later.
It affirmed that this escalation constitutes an extension of the systematic arrest policy that has escalated - in an unprecedented manner - in its level after the bloody aggression. The PPS also focused on the escalation of systematic crimes and atrocities against Palestinian detainees inside Israeli detention.
PPS further pointed out that the number of detainees and those who were detained in Jenin and its camp following the 15 days of ongoing onslaught has reached 110, in addition to dozens who were subjected to field investigation.
In Tubas governorate, the number of detentions reached 28, 11 of whom were released, while 17 are still inside occupation jails, noting that some of those who were released from Tamoun at the military checkpoint called Al-Hamra checkpoint were unable to return to the town of Tamoun due to the ongoing siege.
Moving to the governorate of Tulkarm, the occupation forces rounded up 20 Palestinians, including an injured person who was detained from inside an ambulance.
Additionally, the majority of the detainees were subjected to severe beatings and systematic abuse and assaults during their detention.
