RAMALLAH, January, 23, 2024 (WAFA) – For the fifth consecutive day, the Israeli occupation forces continue to impose arbitrary measures at their military checkpoints near most of the entrances and exits of the governorates in the West Bank.
The occupation is trying to create a state of violent chaos in the occupied West Bank to facilitate its annexation, which was evident in the brutal attacks committed by terrorist colonist gangs against local citizens, their towns, their properties, their homes, their lands, and their holy sites, in all governorates.
Jerusalem:
The Israeli occupation forces tightened their military measures today at the Qalandia, Jaba, Shuafat camp and the container checkpoints surrounding the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Local sources reported that the occupation is conducting thorough inspections of citizens' IDs and vehicles, which hinders their movement and negatively affects their daily lives, especially in commuting to work and school, and receiving basic services.
Jenin:
The Israeli occupation continues its aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the third consecutive day, resulting so far in the killing of 12 Palestinians and the injury of others.
Nablus:
In Nablus governorate, the occupation forces tightened their military measures, set up military checkpoints around the governorate, and closed most of the iron gates set up at the entrances to villages and towns.
According to local sources, the Deir Sharaf checkpoint is witnessing a stifling crisis, while vehicles at the Al-Murabba'a and Awarta checkpoints in the south and Beit Furik in the east are subjected to thorough inspection.
The Israeli occupation forces also placed new concrete blocks at the Beit Furik military checkpoint east of Nablus on Thursday and closed it to the passage of vehicles.
Jericho:
The occupation forces stationed at military checkpoints surrounding the main and secondary entrances to the city of Jericho continued to prevent citizens from leaving it.
Ramallah and Al-Bireh:
The Israeli occupation forces tightened their military measures this morning in several areas in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, through setting up military checkpoints and closing gates, and detained three Palestinians after raiding several towns and villages.
Local sources reported that the occupation forces set up a military checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Rawabi, northwest of Ramallah, and tightened their measures at the Ein Siniya checkpoint north of Ramallah.
The sources indicated that the occupation soldiers set up a checkpoint at the entrance to Rawabi, which obstructed the movement of citizens heading to the city of Ramallah, while the Ein Siniya checkpoint witnessed a stifling crisis and thorough inspection of those leaving the city.
The sources confirmed that the occupation forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Aboud, northwest of Ramallah, which is witnessing a stifling crisis, while the gate of the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah, was closed, forcing citizens to take long distances to reach alternative routes.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians after storming the towns of Silwad and Kobar and the village of Rammun in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate.
Hebron:
The Israeli occupation forces tightened their punitive measures against the residents of Hebron governorate, closed the checkpoints set up at the entrances to the governorate's towns and villages, and hindered the movement of citizens, forcing hem to spend the night at those checkpoints waiting to be allowed to pass.
Tubas:
The Israeli occupation forces tightened their military measures at the Tayasir and Hamra military checkpoints in the northern Jordan Valley.
Qalqilya:
The Israeli occupation forces also tightened their military measures around Qalqilya governorate.
Local sources reported to WAFA that the occupation forces closed the entrance to the villages of Nabi Elias and Hajjah to the east with an iron gate, prevented citizens from moving.
The soldiers further set up a military checkpoint at the western entrance to the town of Azzun and a checkpoint at the eastern entrance to the city of Qalqilya, stopping citizens' vehicles, searched them, and checked the identities of their passengers, which caused a stifling traffic jam.
