CAIRO, December 2, 2024 (WAFA) - Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi called on the international community to exert all forms of pressure on the Israeli government to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to brutal Israeli aggression for over 14 months.
This call was made during his speech at the Ministerial Conference held in Cairo to address enhancing humanitarian response in Gaza.
The one-day conference, titled: "A Year of Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza: Urgent Needs and Sustainable Solutions," was held under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and included the participation of 103 delegations of states, and international organizations and bodies.
At the conference, Safadi emphasized the critical situation, stating that the people in Gaza are starving and urgent action is needed.
He urged the international community to pressure Israel to allow aid into Gaza, confirming that Jordan has done all it can to facilitate the entry of aid.
He called for immediate action to ensure that the United Nations can facilitate the distribution of aid in the Strip.
Safadi stressed that Jordan has developed a plan to assess the required humanitarian aid, which calls for at least 250 trucks of supplies to be sent daily to Gaza.
He also expressed concern over the targeting of Palestinians in the West Bank by colonists, which he warned would lead to more destruction and extremism.
He reaffirmed that the two-state solution remains the only viable path to peace, stressing that there have been no meaningful steps toward its implementation.
