RAMALLAH, November 17, 2024 (WAFA) - After relentless efforts, the Ministry of Culture has successfully registered the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
In a statement, Minister of Culture Imad Hamdan highlighted the significance of the Palestinian keffiyeh, affirming that it has become a powerful symbol of Palestinian national identity, embodying dignity and resilience. "It tells the story of Palestinians’ deep connection to their land and their ongoing struggle," he said.
Hamdan further stressed the ministry’s commitment to safeguarding Palestinian cultural heritage, noting that the keffiyeh’s inclusion on ICESCO’s list represents a major national accomplishment in preserving this cultural legacy.
The statement described the keffiyeh as a symbol of the Palestinian people's national identity and their enduring struggle, noting that it has become a key element in shaping how Palestinians are viewed in the collective consciousness of the free world.
