SALFIT, Saturday, August 31, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Saturday evening brutally assaulted a Palestinian youth in the village of Marda, north of the occupied West Bank city of Salfit, according to local sources.
They said that the occupation troops barged their way into the village, where they broke into a house and beat up a young man, while simultaneously firing in their air to intimidate other villagers from protecting the young man.
The casualty was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Marda has been the target of frequent Israeli army raids, and the eastern entrance of the village has been sealed off for over two months.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
