Joint Egyptian-Chinese statement: The Palestinian cause is the central cause in Middle East

CAIRO, September 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Egypt and China reaffirmed on Wednesday in a joint statement that the Palestinian cause is the central cause in the Middle East, according to the official website of Egyptian Presidency.

The statement followed talks in Cairo between Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Chinese leader’s state visit to Egypt.

The visit coincided with the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Egyptian and Chinese leaders stressed the importance of reaching a just and lasting settlement based on the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They renewed their categorical rejection of any plans to displace the Palestinian people from their lands under any pretext or designation.

The two sides called for consolidating the ceasefire in the genocide-stricken Gaza Strip, facilitating the unrestricted flow of humanitarian assistance and ensuring the return of the Palestinian Authority to the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.

They expressed concern over the dangerous Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, including the increasing colonist violence, land grab and colonial settlement construction.

They stressed the importance of preserving the unity of the Palestinian Territory, supporting the role of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and safeguarding its mandate.
