Israeli forces demolish residential building in occupied east Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, September 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces demolished a residential building on Wednesday in the Al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

The Jerusalem Governorate reported that bulldozers belonging to the Israeli municipality demolished a three-story building belonging to the Badran family. The building, which contained four apartments, had a total area of approximately 500 square meters.

The Badran family had vacated the building and removed its contents after Israeli police notified them by phone that they were required to immediately evacuate the property and clear out their belongings ahead of its demolition.

The first apartment was inhabited by the wife of the late Ishaq Badran and her disabled son. This apartment had been built in the early 1990s. The second apartment was inhabited by Enaya Badran.

Ilham Badran lived in the third apartment with her husband and five children. Meanwhile, Mu'taz Qara'in was preparing the fourth apartment for his upcoming marriage and move in.

The demolition order also included a vehicle garage and a small room inside it, with a combined area of approximately 50 square meters.

Palestinian homes in Jerusalem neighborhoods and towns, particularly in Silwan, continue to face a policy of demolitions under the pretext of lacking building permits, while Israeli authorities impose strict restrictions on Palestinian construction in the city.
