Egyptian and French presidents discuss latest developments in Gaza

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, July 16 2024 (WAFA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today discussed with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, the situation in the region, most notably the developments in the Gaza Strip.

The official spokesman for the Egyptian presidency said in a press statement, that “President Sisi reviewed, during the phone call he received from his French counterpart today, the ongoing Egyptian mediation efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire and exchange of detainees.

He also called for the importance of uniting international efforts to make the mediation efforts successful and to deliver humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities to alleviate the harsh conditions in the Strip.

The spokesman added, “The two presidents agreed on the importance of intensifying joint international action, with the aim of preventing the expansion of the conflict and the region’s slide into a new cycle of uncalculated conflict.

 They also stressed the necessity of advancing the path of the two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of the Palestinian state in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy as it is the ideal path to achieving security and sustainable stability in the region.
