JERUSALEM, Sunday, May 26, 2024 (WAFA) - The fascist occupation minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, stormed today evening the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the occupied city of Jerusalem, amid heavy police guard.

The storming of Ben-Gvir coincided with the storming of hundreds of colonists into the said neighborhood to celebrate the Jewish festival of Lag B’Omer; a celebration associated with bonfires, which they deliberately commemorate inside and around a cave that they claim contains the so-called tomb of Simeon the Righteous.

Residents of the neighborhood reported that the colonists have been storming Sheikh Jarrah since yesterday evening, provoking the people with loud songs that continued until the late night hours.

The Sheikh Jarrah Defense Committee said that a full closure was imposed on the neighborhood since the early morning hours today by the Israeli police, preventing the movement of its residents to facilitate the movement of colonists following the seizure and leveling of open lands to make way for holding the Judaization colonist celebration.

According to the committee, the neighborhood’s residents expressed extreme fear, especially since they were imprisoned inside their homes amid the presence of hundreds of occupation police officers and exposed to armed colonists’ provocations and attacks.
