Israeli colonists open fire on Palestinian olive pickers near Hebron

HEBRON, October 21, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists opened live fire on Palestinian olive pickers on Wednesday in the village of Birin, east of Hebron, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Farid Barqan, head of the Birin village council, told Wafa that armed colonists from a newly established settlement outpost on village land fired indiscriminately at local farmers as they harvested olives. No injuries were reported.

Barqan added that villagers are subjected to daily attacks by colonists and Israeli occupation forces, with such incidents escalating sharply in recent weeks amid the olive harvest season. He said the attacks aim to prevent residents from accessing their land and harvesting their olives, paving the way for the theft of the crop and the seizure of land for settlement expansion.
