PLO's Hussein al-Sheikh discusses latest political developments with Norwegian peace envoy and British Consul General

RAMALLAH, Monday, April 6, 2024 (WAFA) – Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh today received in his office the Norway’s Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Hilde Haraldstad, in the presence of the Norwegian Consul General in Jerusalem, Torun Veste.

During the meeting, they both tackled the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, the latest of which is the formation of the new government headed by Muhammad Mustafa, and the ongoing efforts to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

They further discussed the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip after 185 days of the Israeli brutal aggerssion, which has so far resulted in the killing of over 33,000 persons, mostly children and women. They also highlighted the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Haraldstad affirmed her country's support for the formation of the new Palestinian government, calling for an immediate cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip.

She affirmed the Kingdom of Norway's support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution on the basis of international legitimacy.

Sheikh also received in his office in Ramallah, the British Consul General in Jerusalem, Diane Corner, and discussed with her the latest political developments on the Palestinian, regional and international scene.

In turn, Corner affirmed her country's support for the formation of the new Palestinian government. She also called for the need to completely stop the Israeli aggression against the Strip .
