Weather: Hot summer conditions

RAMALLAH, Friday, September 1, 2023 (WAFA) – Hot to extremely hot weather conditions are expected today in Palestine despite a slight drop in temperatures, which still remain approximately 3°C above the seasonal average, according to the Palestine Meteorological Department.

Winds are southwesterly to northwesterly, moderate to active, and the sea waves are low.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 18°C, and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 30°C and a low of 17°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 40°C and a low of 24°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 30°C and a low of 23°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Weather on Saturday is predicted to be a typical summer day with another slight drop in temperatures, setting back to their seasonal average.  

Sunday is also expected to be a typical summer day with little change in temperatures, remaining around the seasonal average.  

On Monday, temperatures are expected to rise to relatively hot conditions, with an increase of about 6°C above the seasonal average.  

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning to people about the risk of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak hours, and the danger of starting fires in areas with dry grass.
