RAMALLAH, Friday, August 11, 2023 (WAFA) – Very hot conditions are expected today in Palestine with a slight rise in temperature, approaching 2°C above the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Winds are southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, active at night, and sea waves are low to medium.
The temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 21°C, and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 31°C and a low of 20°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 41°C and a low of 26°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 33°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Temperature is expected to rise further on Saturday and Sunday, approaching 6°C above the seasonal average on Saturday and 7°C above the average on Sunday, with extremely hot conditions prevailing throughout the two days.
A drop in temperature is expected on Monday, yet slightly remaining above the seasonal average.
The PMD warned people against direct exposure to the sunlight for long period, especially from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, during the heat wave and against setting fire to dry grass.
