JERUSALEM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023 (WAFA) – Slain Palestinian minor Wadee’ Abu Rumouz was last night laid to rest in the Yusufiya cemetery in occupied Jerusalem’s Bab al-Asbat with the participation of only 25 members of his family, amid strict military measures by the Israeli occupation forces.
Local sources confirmed that the occupation forces assaulted Palestinian youths who were preparing to participate in the funeral of the Abu Rumouz, 16, in the cemetery.
According to Mohammad Mahmoud, a lawyer, occupation forces prevented a number of Abu Rumouz’s family from participating in the funeral, and confiscated the ID cards and mobile devices of the people who were allowed to enter the cemetery.
The occupation imposed a few conditions to hand over the minor’s body, which included preventing chants, and preventing raising the Palestinian flag, while forcing his family to pay an amount of 10,000 NIS before handing him over.
Abu Rumouz was shot in the chest by an Israeli soldier in the chest during confrontation in Silwan, south of the occupied city of Jerusalem and succumbed his wounds in January 27th.
