Colonists perform rituals near Bab al-Rahma Cemetery, occupied Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, October 2, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists early today raided Bab al-Rahma Cemetery, adjacent to the eastern wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, and performed Jewish religious rituals at the site.

The Jerusalem Governorate said the colonists performed rituals marking the seventh and final day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, carrying what they call the “Four Species” of plants. The rituals took place outside Bab al-Rahma Gate, along the eastern wall of Al-Aqsa and adjacent to Muslim graves.

The governorate said the practices form part of repeated activity in the area in recent weeks, as colonist groups seek to establish the area near Bab al-Rahma as a site for Jewish prayer and religious rituals through recurring gatherings and prayers.

It warned that the repeated and increasingly regular rituals are part of attempts to impose a new reality around Al-Aqsa Mosque and turn the area near Bab al-Rahma into a permanent site for Jewish rituals, undermining the Islamic identity of the area and the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa and its surroundings.
