Five Palestinians rescued from migrant boat sinking in Aegean Sea

RAMALLAH, Friday, November 18, 2022 (WAFA) – Five Palestinians were today rescued from latest migrant boat wreck in the Aegean Sea, according to the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry.

The Ministry announced that five Palestinians were rescued by the Greek patrol boats as a boat went down off the coast of Kos, a few kilometers from Turkish shores, late on Wednesday.

It added that following contacts with the Palestinian embassy to Athens, it was confirmed that no Palestinian drowned in the shipwreck.

The daily Greek Kathimerini English Edition reported that the vessel sank late on November 16, 1.5 nautical miles east of Kos, resulting in the drowning of one man. A total of 11 people were aboard the boat, all of whom were males aged between 27 and 30 years. Of the 10 rescued migrants, five were Palestinians, three were Yemeni and two were Turks.

Ten people, including four Palestinians, had been rescued on Wednesday evening when another overloaded migrant smuggling boat went down in the western Aegean Sea.
