Newspaper Review: Dailies highlight Israeli army attack on nonviolent protesters in Masafer Yatta

RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 18, 2022 (WAFA) – Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on the Israeli occupation army’s attack yesterday on nonviolent Palestinian and international protesters who were demonstrating in al-Tuwani village in Masafer Yatta region, south of Hebron, against army offenses.

The dailies also highlighted President Mahmoud Abbas’s meeting with his Irish counterpart in Dublin.

Following are the main headlines of the three dailies:

Al-Quds:

- President [Mahmoud Abbas] praises Dublin’s support of Palestine during [two] meetings with his Irish counterpart and Prime Minister.

- World Bank: The Palestinian economy is facing serious challenges affecting the poorest families... due to Israeli violations and lack of aid.

- Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem hold protests against attempts by the Israeli occupation authorities to prevent the schools from teaching the official Palestinian textbooks and rather use the distorted Israeli-issued textbooks.

- Israeli occupation army attack a nonviolent event in Masafer Yatta.

- UN-OCHA: The Israeli occupation demolished and confiscated 44 Palestinian-owned buildings during the past two weeks.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida:

- Israeli occupation army attack an event against army offenses in Masafer Yatta, and also target farmers in Gaza.

- President [Mahmoud Abbas] meets his Irish counterpart [Michael Higgins] at Dublin International Airport and  thanks him for his country’s support for the Palestinian cause.

- [Prime Minister Mohammad] Shtayyeh inaugurates the Ninth Grape Festival in Halhul and visits President Mahmoud Abbas Hospital in the town.

- Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem hold protests against attempts by the Israeli occupation authorities to impose its distorted Israeli-issued textbooks in the Palestinian schools there.

- World Bank: Growing inflationary pressures are taking their toll on the poorest Palestinian families.

Al-Ayyam:

- The [Israeli] occupation carries out an arrest campaign…, and extremist Jewish groups are planning to intensify their incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

- President [Mahmoud Abbas] meets his Irish counterpart and Prime Minister in Dublin.

- Injuries were reported after an Israeli army attack on two rallies in Al-Tuwani and Kafr Qaddum.

- Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem hold protests against attempts by the Israeli occupation authorities to impose its curriculum in the Palestinian schools there.
