Newspaper Review: Announcement of Tawjihi results focus of dailies

RAMALLAH, Sunday, July 31, 2022 (WAFA) – Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on the Ministry of Education’s announcement of the results of the Tawjihi high school examination yesterday.

The dailies said the Palestinian Ministry of Education announced that the success rate for Palestinian students who sat this year for the Tawjihi high school general matriculation exam reached 68.12 percent.

In its main story, Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on the case of Tala Nasser Salah, a Palestinian Tawjihi student, who despite the fact that her two brothers have been killed by Israeli occupation forces, one of who was shot dead two months ago, she was able to achieve a high score in the Tawjihi examination.

It said that for the first time, the results of the Tawjihi students in occupied Jerusalem who ranked first were announced from the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Al-Ayyam said the Israeli occupation forces carried out a major arrest campaign yesterday in occupied Jerusalem in which 17 Palestinians were detained, some of whom while celebrating their success in the Tawjihi examination.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Palestinian teenager Amjad Nash’at Abu Alia, 16, who was shot dead on Friday by Israeli occupation forces in the village of Al-Mughayir, northeast of Ramallah, was laid to rest in his village yesterday.

Al-Quds said thousands of Muslim worshipers celebrated the Islamic New Year at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem.

Al-Ayyam said Palestinian detainee Khalil Awawdeh remains on hunger strike for 29 days in a row in protest of his detention without charge or trial by the Israeli occupation authorities.
