RAMALLAH, Saturday, July 23, 2022 (WAFA) – Some 75 Palestinian freedom fighters incarcerated in Israel for their resistance of the occupation announced that they will start tomorrow an open hunger strike in solidary with the two striking administrative detainees Khalil Awawda and Raed Rayyan.
Hasan Abed Rabbo, spokesman for the Prisoners Affairs Commission, told WAFA that as Rayyan, 28, has been on hunger strike for 108 days demanding an end to his illegal administrative detention, and Awawda,40, has been on hunger strike for 22 days after he resumed it following 111 days of fast when he suspended it in light of an Israel promise to release him, which it reneged on, 75 Palestinian prisoners have decided to start tomorrow an open-ended hunger strike in solidarity with the two detainees.
There are currently 682 Palestinians held in Israel in administrative detention without charge or trial and based on secret evidence for various periods of time that can go on for years. Israel has issued more than 54,000 administrative detention orders against Palestinian activists since its occupation started in 1967.
