The Football Association mourns a South African player who drowned in a swimming pool in Jericho

RAMALLAH, Monday, July 18, 2022 (WAFA) - The head of the Palestinian Football Association, Jibril Rjoub, senior members, and the Palestinian athletes in general mourned today the passing of Capello Johnny Malisa, player with the South African SA Development team, who drowned in a pool in the eastern West Bank city of Jericho while he was in Palestine with his team.

"The Palestinian Federation, in view of this tragedy that shook us all with the passing of the child Malisa, who carried messages of love, peace and solidarity from South Africa to Palestine, extends its deepest condolences and sincerest feelings of sympathy to his family and friends and the South African Football Association, the sports family, and the entire friendly South African people," said Rjoub in the condolences.

He said an official and popular funeral would be held for Malisa tomorrow, Wednesday, at the headquarters of Jericho Governorate at noon local time. His body will be wrapped in the Palestinian and South African flags before being transferred to South Africa.
