JENIN, Sunday, May 29, 2022 (WAFA) – A group of Israeli settlers today assaulted and beat up a Palestinian man while working in his own land near the town of Ya’bad, in the northern West Bank province of Jenin, according to local sources.
Witnesses told WAFA that a car-driving Israeli settler ran over Samir Tawfiq Abu-Bakr, 65, before other settlers assaulted and beat him up while he was working in his own land, causing him bruises throughout his body.
Residents who rushed to the scene of the attack were able to save the man from the hands of the attacking settlers, added the witnesses. Abu-Bakr was subsequently evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Israeli settler violence against defenseless Palestinian civilians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.
There are over 600,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law and consensus.
