Ramallah, July 30, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the success of the international peace conference in New York.
President Abbas praised the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, issued by the joint presidency of the conference, the French Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The President expressed his thanks and appreciation for the sincere and dedicated efforts made by the joint presidency, France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, throughout all stages of preparation, coordination, and holding of this historic conference. He extended his thanks to the UN Secretary-General and the Secretariat staff. He also thanked the countries that chaired the working groups, participated actively, and submitted the working papers that were included and announced.
President Abbas also praised the positions of the participating countries in the conference sessions, which affirmed in their speeches their support for a just and comprehensive peace, which reflects a unified international will to end the occupation, achieve the two-state solution, and recognize the State of Palestine. He said that they emphasized the priority of ending the war, accelerating the delivery of humanitarian aid, halting starvation and blockade, preventing displacement, ensuring the State of Palestine fully assumes its responsibilities, withdrawing the occupying forces and embarking on reconstruction, halting settlement activity and colonists' violence, and implementing irreversible steps to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state within a specific timeframe.
The President emphasized the critical importance of the conference's outcomes and the need to follow them up seriously. He also emphasized his full confidence that the specific steps announced will enter into force, and that this conference, with the diplomatic momentum and political dynamism it has created, will have tangible positive results on the path to ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also expressed his gratitude to the countries that have expressed their intention to recognize the State of Palestine and called on other countries to do the same.
