RAMALLAH, Tuesday, March 29, 2022 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh met today at his office in Ramallah with Swedish Secretary of State for International Development Cooperation, Jenny Olsson, during which they discussed the latest political developments and promoting mutual cooperation.
Shtayyeh praised Sweden’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and for development projects in Palestine, commending the level of political consultations and the priorities of support between the two governments in line with the agenda of the Palestinian government and its development plans.
They also discussed the latest developments in light of the political vacuum, in addition to the Israeli measures on the ground, including the accelerated settlement construction, the expropriation of land, and settlers’ attacks; which he stressed increase tension and undermine the two-state solution and chances for peace.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad al-Malki also held a separate meeting with the Swedish Secretary of State for International Development Cooperation, during which the latter affirmed Sweden’s firm position in support of the United Nations resolutions relating to the Palestinian issue.
The Swedish official also stressed action within the European Union to support international efforts aimed at achieving peace in the region and noted the importance of promoting mutual relations between the two countries.
