RAMALLAH, Sunday, March 13, 2022 (WAFA) – Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on the Palestinian Presidency’s condemnation of an new Israeli announcement on the construction of 730 new housing units in the Israeli settlement of Pesgat Ze’ev in occupied Jerusalem.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and Al-Ayyam wrote: “Presidency: [Israeli] settlement projects are a provocation of the Palestinians and the world, and Israel has to respect international legitimacy.”
Al-Quds, however, focused on the ongoing Russian-Ukranian crisis and wrote in bold red: “Fierce fighting is raging around Kyiv, as Moscow threatens to attack arms shipments to Ukraine.”
Al-Ayyam wrote in bold black: “Israeli settlers assault Palestinian women east of Bethlehem, as settler [groups] are mulling mass raids of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday and Thursday.”
Al-Quds said so-called Israeli Temple Mount organizations called upon their fans to organize mass raid of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Wednesday and Thursday to celebrate Purim holiday.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida also wrote in bold black: “President Abbas stresses the importance of preserving and protecting Palestinian cultural heritage.”
Al-Ayyam said the election campaign has started in the West Bank in preparation for the second phase of the local elections, scheduled for Mach 26, with 2,306 candidates running for 632 seats in municipalities.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida also said the election campaign has kick-started in the West Bank for the second phase of the local elections.
Al-Quds said injuries were reported yesterday among Palestinian anti-occupation activist after being assaulted by Israeli occupation forces in the village of Kafr Qaddum, north of the occupied West Bank.
