Weather forecast: Low pressure, cold front continue to hit the region

RAMALLAH, Friday, March 11, 2022 (WAFA) – The low pressure and the very cold front are set to continue to affect the region today, causing temperature to plummet to 9°C below the seasonal average and paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy and cold to very cold conditions, especially in the mountains, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Sporadic rain showers along with occasional thunderstorms and hail are expected on most districts, with the chance of rainfall gradually tapering off during the day. Strong northwesterly to westerly wind blows with occasional gusts. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 7°C and a low of 4°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 6°C and a low of 3°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 10°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 9°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Saturday’s temperature is set to remain steady, with partly cloudy to cloudy and cold to very cold conditions, especially in the mountains. The chance remains for sporadic light rainfall. Chance of frost in frost-prone areas is expected in the night.

Partly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions are expected on Sunday with a slight rise of temperature, which yet remains 7°C below the seasonal average. The chance remains for sporadic light rainfall towards the evening.

A slight drop of temperature is expected on Monday, paving the way to partly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions, especially in the mountains. The chance remains for sporadic light rainfall.

PMD warns people against gusty wind, slippery roads, low horizontal visibility, flash floods in flood-prone area,  and the formation of frost on Sunday morning.
